How to become a member

Let me introduce myself, I am Tony, the Membership Secretary.
If you are interested in joining the club and would like to have a look around, or if you are thinking that you would like to give sailing a go, then contact me and let's see what we can arrange.

We offer various types of membership.  If you are keen sailor or would like to take it up, then a sailing membership is for you, however if you see sailing as a spectator sport there is social membership. There are single sailing memberships that include a non sailing partner and for coules, a joint sailing membership. You can add a family pack to a sailing membership to include all children up to the age of 25. Also available is a Young adult membership for those aged between 16-25.

Sailling isl from March through to New Year’s Day.  Wednesday mornings from April to October, Wednesday evenings April to September, Saturday afternoons and Sundays.
The club is an RYA affiliated Champion Club with many sailing courses for all ages spread over the year.  Club instructors can be booked for private lessons and club boats are available for you to use until you decide what sort of boat would best suit you.  The boats that the club has available are Toppers, Ok’s, RS Feva’s, and Wayfarers.

Even if sailing is not your sport then Upper Thames is still a wonderful setting to spend some time enjoying the facilities while wa tching the activities on the water.
This is why we also offer a social membership so that you can come along to our weekly evening supper, or a Sunday roast/snack menu. The club has a fully licensed bar with wonderful views over the river. We have a full social calendar throughout the year with special suppers, BBQ’s, cocktail parties etc.

We are a volunteer club, which means giving of your time to help with such things as serving behind the bar, helping to run a race, supporting the helm of a safety boat. There will always be someone with experience to show you the ropes.  Working parties are part of club life, these are to help maintain the club's property.

As part of the application process we like to spend a little time with you discussing your expectations and needs from the club to make sure thar UTSC is the right club for you.  Your application form should be accompanied with payment and will go forward to the General Committee for approval when they next meet. Meanwhile, once payment is received, you are welcome to come and enjoy the benefits of Upper Thames SC. Once your membership has been approved, you will be invited to the next New Members' Welcome.  This is your opportunity to meet other members, find out about how the club works, see what opportunities there are for sail training and developing safety boat skills.  It is aimed at getting you settled in quickly to make sure you benefit from all the club has to offer.
